The West Haven Wizards hosted the Yankee League Swim Finals this past weekend. All 11 teams from the Yankee League came to compete.
During this meet, a number of Yankee League records were broken, including one record that had stood since 1978. From finals, the top three swimmers in each event qualify for the All-Star Pentathlon.
This year, 28 Wizards advanced to the All-Star meet, and three others qualified at alternates: Ari Rose, Christina Richardson, Michael Wright, Evan Piskura, Naomi Shubin, Ray Listorti, Erin Morton, Leahn Mendoza, Aarya Mulmi, Ean Annatone, Lauren Blake, Macie Rascoll, Kaleigh Morton, Collin Charron, Bo Wureh, Hannah Rascoll, Jillian Goldbeck, Emily Eschweiler, Madison Hobart, Vivien Freitas, Kaya Vital, Molly Wilson, Gavin Kanlong, Jillian Doherty, Arianna Chen, Madison Elias, Carly Weber, Anya Celmer and Morgan Falanga, George Bohorquez and Sean Fitzpatrick as alternates.
The All-Star Pentathlon is a unique meet, in that all the swimmers compete in the same five events: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and a 100-yard individual medley. The times from all events are added up and the swimmer from each age group with the fastest cumulative time wins.
West Haven will host the pentathlon on Saturday, beginning at 9.
