The West Haven Seahawks 8U football team (11-0) won the Connecticut state championship with a convincing 30-0 win over the Northern Connecticut Pop Warner champion Pomperaug Warriors.
Seahawk running back Tristian Crawford took over the game and accounted for all the scoring with four offensive touchdowns and a fumble recovery for a score on defense. The offensive line provided great blocking and big holes that was led by CJ Schlauder, Jaden Potter and Kayden Loyola. The defense held the Warriors at bay all day with excellent play from William Pastore, Jacari Harris, Jayden Spell, Brody Coe, Kaedyn Desruisseaux and Mason Booker.
The Seahawks will now advance to the New England regional semi-final game and face the Rhode Island Champion, Mount Hope Cowboys from Providence. The game will be played on Saturday at 10:30 at LaSalle Academy in Providence.
