The year 2023 marks Annawon Lodge’s 150th anniversary. The lodge was charted on June 16,1873 in the Village of West Haven,Town of Orange. Its first location was the second floor of what is now called the Altshuler Building on the corner of Campbell Avenue and Main Street.
Later the Lodge moved to 304 Center St., which was sold to the City of West Haven in 2006 as the proposed West Haven Cultural Arts Center.
Since 2009, the lodge has met at 263 Center St., the former Knights of Columbus Building.
Brother Christopher Belous is the 2023 Worshipful Master. Several notable West Haven citizens have served in that position, such as First Selectman (Mayor) Elmer R. Scranton and educator Harry M. Bailey. “It is an honor to serve as Master during our Sesquicentennial Jubilee.” Belous said in an interview.
The Lodge will celebrate it sesquicentennial with a Gala Ball on it’s actually birthday Friday, June 16 from 6-11 at the Ciello Ball Room, 85 Chase Lane.
The Ball will include, cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres, carving table, buffet dinner, dessert table, music, dancing, raffles, cigar rolling and a four hour open bar.
