Popular hangoutWhile much of the food trade was centered around “Restaurant Row” in the area around Savin Rock in the 1960s, just down the road near Prospect Beach was “Scotty’s” a hamburger joint that attracted the bobby sox and penny loafer crowd. A popular hangout for city teens, the restaurant was dealt the fate of them all when over-the-counter sales were banned along the beach as part of the urban renewal project. It is fondly remembered by many residents and former residents. These pictures were sent in by former city resident and WHHS baseball and football star Jim Brennan.
