  • Rob Fumiatti number retired
    Rob Fumiatti number retired
    West Haven High School officially retired No. 8 in honor of the late Blue Devil Robert Vincent Fumiatti. A New Haven Police office, Fumiatti was shot in the line of duty and died of complications from that incident in 2007. A star defensemen for the Blue Devils, he played on the 1988 state championship team and was an assistant captain his senior year, 1989. Pictured left to right, is Jim Perno, Rob’s wife, Stacey Fumiatti, son Vinny, retired Amity hockey coach Gary Lindgren, daughter Madelyn, sister, Debbie Fumiatti Powers, Rob’s mother, Marguerite, daughter Caitlin, and brother Michael.

    Nearly 200 souls braved the frigid waters of Long Island Sound as participants in the 18th annual “Icy Plunge for a Cure” to benefit breast cancer research. While air temperatures hit above-freezing marks for the first time in days before plummeting again, the water temperature was a brisk 42. After a relaxing dip, swimmers headed for drier clothes and cozy environs.

Nowak had three goals and three assists in a pair of games this past week, including the game-winning tally against Amity/North Haven/Cheshire.
