First-ever festivalThe city’s newly formed Latino Haven Committee sponsored its first-ever Latin Festival at the Old Grove Park, Friday night. The festival featured the music of Tito Puete, Jr. and many other groups for singing and dancing – and there was plenty of it. The festival represented all Spanish-speaking cultures.

Marking the feastLead by Worshipful Master Frank Mangero and Senior Warden Steven R. Mullins, members of Annawon Lodge, 115, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of West Haven joined the parishioners of the First Congregational Church to celebrate the Feast of the Holy Saints John of Jerusalem. All Masonic temples are erected to God and dedicated to the patron saints of Freemasonry, St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist. The official Feast Day is June 24th. Day at the racesThe East Coast Watercross made another stop in West Haven last weekend for a regional competition. The organization has been hosting jet-ski races in the city for the last several years, bringing in big crowds and a lot of excitement.

Jetski competitionHundreds of fans came to shore over the weekend to see the East Coast Watercross m regional competition. Over the past four years the organization has utilized West Haven’s section of Long Island Sound, and brought big crowds and lots of excitement in the process.

Sounds of FrankThe Sounds of Frank Sinatra was featured in a concert on the Green Monday night, benefitting the Columbus Day Parade Committee of the New Haven area. Originally scheduled for Friday, rain postponed the event. This year West Haven is sponsoring the event, which rotates to the various communities. This is West Haven’s second hosting of the parade.
