If there was one facade that served as an iconic reminder of Savin Rock Amusement Park for those of a certain age, it had to be the clown face that bedecked the Laff in the Dark that stood on Beach Street. Weather forecasters are telling us what we’ve suspected since about the middle of April – the drought is over throughout Connecticut. Since January, the state, and particularly the coastline, has experienced higher-than-normal precipitation. Last week was a good example, as below- average temperatures kept jackets at the ready, and people walked around with a bumbershoot in case of rain. This was taken over the weekend.

The Silver’s Fountain was a city landmark for 62 years before the decision was made to close it. It was missed by many.
