‘Soup’s On’
The West Haven Historical Society is sponsoring a “Soup’s On” luncheon on Sunday Feb. 23 from 12-2 at the Poli House 686 Savin Ave. Cost is $8 per person. The luncheon will feature special soups prepared by the University of New Haven Dining Service. A selection of breads, muffins, and crackers will also be available to guests. Coffee and tea will be served.
There will also be a Trivia Contest on West Haven History after the luncheon. Participation by guests is optional although people are encouraged to participate. Prizes will be awarded to winners.

Nostalgia Dance
The Tri-Area Benevolent Group of New Haven is sponsoring a Leap Day Nostalgia Dance on Saturday, Feb. 29 from 6-10 p.m. at the St. Lawrence School gym to benefit the school. Those interested in tickets should call Ton Castaldi, (203) 506-7663. The non-alcohol event features pizza, refereshements and a raffle. The snow date is March 7.
WHGC sets confab
The West Haven Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, March 9, at Ora Mason Library, 260 Benham Hill Road at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow and the program will be David Carr, Project Manager for the Pollinator Pathways an exciting nationwide project.

The West Haven Italian-American Civic Association will hold a Valentine’s Doo-Wop Dance at 85 Chase Lane on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7, with Music by Charles the DJ till 12. Student Loans
The Seth Haley Memorial Loan Fund of West Haven provides eligible college students with loans of up to $2500 to help students finish their post high school education.
Applicants must be West Haven residents who have completed two or more years of college or post-secondary work or be in their final two years of advanced work. Any West Haven resident attending college or a post high school professional, technical or trade school can be eligible for a loan. Repayments do not begin, and no interest will be charged until one year after graduation. If you are interested in making an application for a loan, please call Ralph Lawson, (203) 934-6442.
