Stamp Club meets Tuesdays
The New Haven Stamp Club meets every Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at 62 Clark Road, North Haven. Also, there is a stamp and coin show on the fourth Sunday of each month. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 554 Woodward Ave., East Haven.
Pizza Wars is back at I-A Club
The West Haven Italian American Civic Association Women’s Auxiliary is happy to announce Pizza Wars is back, Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Cielo Banquet Hall, 85 Chase Lane, from 11:30 – 1:30. Entry Fee is $5 and is open to the public. Sample pizza from some of the best pizzerias in the city. Vote for your favorite. The top 3 public favorites will be recognized. Blind judging for the title of West Haven’s Best Pie. Top 3 recognized.
“The Singing Chef,” Neil Fuentes, and winner of the Food Network’s “Rewrapped” is our Celebrity Judge this year. The rest of the Judges Panel includes West Haven’s favorite Chef & Inventor of the Pizza Doughnut, Jeff Lamberti, the True PizzaHolic, Ron Rogg, Chef/Owner of Simply Elegant Catering & Men’s Club Member, Rich Goulart, and Chef/ Owner of Alphonse’s Italian Street Food-Food Truck AJ Acampora.
Presently, participating pizzerias include: Mike’s Apizza (Winner of the People’s Choice & WH’s Best Pizza last year), the Iconic Zuppardi’s, Cappetta’s, Lorenzo’s, Full Circle, ReBar, Pizza King & Kabob, Casa Bianca and West Haven Pizza & Deli.
Trunk or Treat at church, Saturday
Engaging Heaven Church, 870 First Ave., will be hosting its first annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 6-8 p.m. This is a free family event including decorated trunks, candy, games, a bounce house, face painting, and costumes.
Garden Club slates confab
The West Haven Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 8, at the Ora Mason Library, 260 Benham Hill Road, at noon. Members will bring their lunch and the program will be presenter Mary Genovese, creating a holiday table setting.
Anxiety program offered
The Anxiety and Mood Disorders Program at the Yale Child Study Center offers comprehensive evaluations and treatments for children and adolescents ages 6 to 14 years. The program treats a range of anxiety disorders and fears, such as excessive worrying, social anxiety, difficulties, or refusal to speak to other children or adults outside the child’s immediate family.
