Two trips offered city seniors
The West Haven Senior Center is offering two bus trip to the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam on June 7 and Lavender Pond Farm, June 14.
The Goodspeed trip includes lunch at the Gelston House, followed by “Gypsy,” a musical about vaudeville and burlesque.
The trip costs $150 and includes transportation, lunch, admission and gratuities. Payment is due April 24.
The bus departs at 10 a.m. from the Veterans Memorial Park parking lot at 91 Bull Hill Lane, the former Nike site, and leaves at 3:45 p.m. from Goodspeed.
The Lavender Pond Farm, voted “Best Connecticut Attraction” in 2017 by USA Today, is home to more than 10,000 lavender plants. It offers a gift shop with all things lavender, a mini-train tour of the property and a walking trail.
The trip includes lunch at Little Pub in Old Saybrook, followed by a stop at Clinton Premium Outlets.
The trip costs $125 and includes transportation to three locations, gratuities and lunch. Payment is due May 5.

VA retirees luncheon, May 10
The VA Medical Center’s annual Retirees Luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, at 11:30 at Lorenzo’s, 39 Elm St. The cost is $39 per person with a cash bar. Drive-thru Food Drive
The Social Justice Committee of St John XXIII Parish will sponsor a Drive-thru Food Drive on Saturday, April 15 at St Louis Church, 89 Bull Hill Lane (circular drive at entrance) from 9 a.m. to noon to benefit WHEAT and the Purple Pantry Box at St John Vianney Church. Requested items include:: Peanut butter, tuna fish, Mac ‘n cheese, pasta, tomato sauce, hot and cold cereal, fruit cups, protein bars, snack crackers with cheese or peanut butter. Checks (made payable to WHEAT) may be brought to the Food Drive or mailed to WHEAT, 674 Washington Ave.
Review celebrates 40th
The 40th anniversary of the Golden Oldies Review (50’s 60’s 70’s DooWop) is scheduled for April 29 at the Cielo Ballroom, 85 Chase Lane, from 7;30-Midnight. Raffle for Swift concert tix
St. Lawrence School will hold a Taylor Swift Tix raffle, with the winner receiving two tickets to the sold-out Taylor Swift concert on Friday May 19 at Gillette Stadium. Tickets are now on sale for a drawing to be held on Monday, May 1. The proceeds of this raffle will benefit St. Lawrence School, West Haven.

Stamp Club confab regularly
The New Haven Stamp Club meets every Tuesday evening at 82 Clark Road in North Haven at 7:30 p.m. New members are welcome. The club holds a stamp and coin show the fourth Sunday of the month 9-2:30 p.m. at the Annex Club, 554 Woodward Ave. East Haven.
Liberty Coin Club sets schedule
The West Haven Liberty Coin Club announces its show schedule for 2023 and its new location. Due to scheduled renovations at its recent location our shows will be relocated to The Courtyard By Marriott hotel located behind the Outback Restaurant on Marsh Hill Road in Orange Ct., just off Exit 41 off I-95.
The 2023 schedule is: March 12, April 2, June 11, Sept. 10, Nov. 12, and Dec. 10. Show hours are 9am to 3 p.m.
