College Fair
West Haven High School will host its annual “College Fair” on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 6:30-8 p.m., in the gym. Anyone in the community interested in college opportunities are welcome to attend this important event. There will representatives from local and nearby colleges and career institutions as well as the military. More than 90 College will be present.
NARFE confab
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association monthly meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 2, 1 p.m., at the North Haven Congregational Church, 28 Church St. All active and retired federal workers are invited to attend.
The guest speaker will be Angela DeLeon, Crime Prevention Specialist, People’s United Bank, who will speak on common scams against the elderly. Her presentation will include tips on how to be a savvy and safe shopper. Info: www.narfe.org.

Our Lady of Victory School is looking for crafters for our annual OLOV Christmas Fair. It will be held Nov. 18 and 19. The First Congregational Church, 464 Campbell Ave., will host the monthly Used Book Sale, White Elephant Sale, SERRV Shop and Clothes Closet in conjunction with the Apple Festival on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 1 from noon until 4 p.m. All those who are enjoying the activities on the Green are invited to come inside the church to grab some bargains. There are a large variety of used books, household items at reduced prices, items made by refugees from around the world and clothing prices at $5 per bag.

ROCKin’ the Holidays Festival at Savin Rock Community School is looking for vendors, crafters and artist for their fair! Savin Rock Community School is located on 50 Park St. The festival will held on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rent six feet of space for $25. Church tag sale
The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 38 Church St., will host its indoor/outdoor Tag Sale on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9-2, during the Apple Festival on the Green. In addition to items for sale, there will be mums and baked goods for purchase.

Student loans
The Seth Haley Memorial Loan Fund of West Haven provides eligible college students with loans of up to $2500 to help students finish their post high school education. Applicants must be West Haven residents who have completed two or more years of college or post-secondary work or be in their final two years of advanced work. Any West Haven resident attending college or a post high school professional, technical or trade school can be eligible for a loan. Repayments do not begin, and no interest will be charged until one year after graduation.
