Elm City Choir date
The Elm City Girls’ Choir will perform on Wednesday, Feb. 7 (snow date Feb. 28) at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of West Haven, 464 Campbell Ave. Proceeds will benefit the West Haven Public Library. Advance tickets are available at the library or online at westhavenlibrary.org at a cost of $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (55-and-over). Tickets will be available on the day of the concert for $12. Super Bowl party
The Harugari German-American Club of West Haven (203-933-9930) is hosting a Super Bowl Party on Sunday, Feb. 4, at the club’s campus, 66 Highland St.. Doors will open at 5 p.m. until the conclusion of the game. There is a $5 admission that will include snacks, dessert, and coffee. Food and drink will be available for purchase. The Lions Club of West Haven will be hosting its first painting event on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m., 727 Campbell Ave., to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Anyone can create a piece of art to proudly display in their home or gift to someone! No previous artistic skill is required. Step-by-step instructions by a fun and engaging artist in a low key, no pressure environment. WH Garden Club
The West Haven Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 8 at St. Louis Church on Bull Hill Road at 11:30 a.m. After the meeting, a soup luncheon and dessert will follow and our program will be making bird house feeders.
The West Haven Historical Society will hold its annual Mid-Winter Brunch on Sunday, Jan. 28 from 11-1, at Duffy’s Tavern.
The brunch will include Eggs Benedict, home fries, chicken and assorted pastries. Tea and coffee will also be available. Cost is $25 per person.

The Liberty Coin Show is back at the Elks Club, 265 Main St., on the third Sunday of the month. Buy and sell your coins. The organizers invite hobbyists to be part of the many displays. The Seth Haley Memorial Loan Fund of West Haven provides eligible college students with loans of up to $2500 to help students finish their post high school education. Applicants must be West Haven residents who have completed two or more years of college or post-secondary work or be in their final two years of advanced work. Any West Haven resident attending college or a post high school professional, technical or trade school can be eligible for a loan. Repayments do not begin, and no interest will be charged until one year after graduation.
