Museum open house
Ward-Heitmann House Museum is participating in Connecticut’s Open House Day.Come listen to the sounds of the museum’s Melodeon reed organ built in New Haven in the 1860’s. Then stop and make something in the working blacksmith shop. Tour the house and discover new stories about West Haven and those who lived here throughout the past 300 years. The date is Saturday, June 10 from10-4 at the museum, 277 Elm St. Free admission.
Casino bus trip
The West Haven I-A Seniors will conduct a Bus Trip to Foxwoods Casino on Wednesday, June 14. Cost $25 per person, gratuity included. Casino vouchers are buffet and slot plays. Used book sale
The First Congregational Church, 464 Campbell Ave., will host its monthly Used Book Sale, White Elephant Sale, SERRV Shop sale and Clothes Closet sale on Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. . As always we will have a large selection of wonderful books of all kinds, including many children’s books, -at low prices, used household items, greatly reduced, hand-made articles from refugees around the world and gently used clothing of all sizes. Auxiliary ziti dinner
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71 will be hosting a fundraiser ziti dinner at St. John Vianney Church hall, 300 Capt. Thomas Boulevard on June 10, at 5.30 p.m. The cost is $15 per person. All proceeds to help the organization purchase flags to put on graves of veterans at local cemeteries. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Contact Ruth Morgan at (203) 387-2305.
Harugari Fest and dinner
The Harugari Singing Society has scheduled two events for June. The first is the annual SommerFest on Sunday June 11, at 1 p.m. on the club grounds, 66 Highland St. Admission is $5 and includes food and drink available for purchase.
The second is the monthly dinner June 23, at 7. Dinner includes Swedish meatballs served with noodles, veggies, salad, dessert, & coffee. Price is $10 members, $12 non-members $5 kids.

Armstrong reunion
Former workers of the Armstrong Rubber Company are planning their annual reunion for Saturday, July 15 at the Orange Plains Community Center, Orange Center Road in Orange beginning at noon. The price is $22 per person in advance, $27 at the door. ‘Shred’ event
West Haven IA Club; Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a Shred Event fundraiser on Saturday, June 24 from 10-1 at the club’s headquarters, 85 Chase Lane. Besides shredding the club is offering Hard Drive Destruction and Computer Recycling for $20 each. CRT Computer Monitors are $10 ea. Boxes of “shredding material” will run $8-$20 per box depending on size.
