The West Haven Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, April 12, at St. Louis Church on 89 Bull Hill Road at 11:30 a.m. After the meeting a luncheon will follow and our program will be Amanda Chase speaking on Dahlias. $5 for guests. Westies Care names honorees
Westies Care, Inc., a recognized 501(c)(3), will host its 9th Annual Dinner, celebrating education and community on Monday, April 9, at 6 p.m. at the Cielo Ballroom, 85 Chase Lane. The Class of 2018 of community leaders to be honored are: Nancy Paone, Roberta O’Brien, State Sen. Gayle Slossberg, Ron Conlan, Rich Pyrdol, Angelo Vessichio and Watson Food Company. Student honorees will be announced next week. Tickets are $35 and include a full buffet dinner and dessert. All proceeds are donated to student awards and scholarships. BP Garden Club

Golden Oldies Revue
The 36th anniversary edition of the Golden Oldies Revue is scheduled for Saturday, April 14 at the Cielo Ballroom, 85 Chase Lane, from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Michael Hoover presents “Memories of Elvis” at 9:30 with DJ Charles F. Resenay providing other music. Tickets are $25 per person with door prizes and a raffle. Proceeds will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Harugari Singing Society is sponsoring two events, both at the 66Highland Street Club Grounds, in March. On Friday, March 16, is an Irish Family Dinner from 5-9. The West Haven Italian-American Civic Association Senior Center is seeking new members to join its Tuesday senior gathering. Come join a group of friendly seniors in an afternoon of good company, with Bingo, cards, trips to casinos and conversations with like-minded people, and more. The Seth Haley Memorial Loan Fund of West Haven provides eligible college students with loans of up to $2500 to help students finish their post high school education. Applicants must be West Haven residents who have completed two or more years of college or post-secondary work or be in their final two years of advanced work. Any West Haven resident attending college or a post high school professional, technical or trade school can be eligible for a loan. Repayments do not begin, and no interest will be charged until one year after graduation.
