Italian Festival
The West Haven Italian-American Club, 85 Chase Lane, is hosting its annual Italian Festival on Saturday, Sept. 8, from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. on the club grounds. Food, vendors games, and live music are planned. Bands include Rich Di Palma, Angelo Sapia and Company, and Full Wound Sound on Saturday beginning at noon. A bocce and horseshoe tournament are set Saturday at 3p.m. Sunday, Mark Lanzieri performs the music of Dean Martin, while Angelo Sapia returns along with Mike Proscino. The Navels perform at 3. 15th annual sale
The Friends of West Haven Library will have its 15th annual Book Sale at the Main Library, 300 Elm St., on Friday and Saturday Sept. 7-8, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be many, many slightly used books of all types, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, mysteries, children’s books and AV materials, all at very low prices. At 3 p.m. on Saturday you may fill our bag for $5.

WH Garden Club

Senior trips
F Seniors and Friends has a trip planned for the new year: A trip to Atlantic City is planned for Jan. 2-4 at Resorts Casino. It includes four meals, $20 in slot play and two shows. Price is $229 per person.

Community Garden plots
The West Haven Community Garden is accepting applications for new members. WHCG is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to helping its members grow organic produce for themselves and their families. It is located behind Molloy School on Meloy Road and is open May 1-Oct. 31. Garden plots (10x10ft) are $30; $20 for seniors 65 and older. Vendors sought
The First Congregational Church will host the Annual Apple Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28, 29 and 30. Crafters are wanted for Saturday 9-5. and Sunday noon-5. Vendors will have to provide a tent and table. Set up is Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Fee is $90 until Sept. 15. Student loans
The Seth Haley Memorial Loan Fund of West Haven provides eligible college students with loans of up to $2500 to help students finish their post high school education. Applicants must be West Haven residents who have completed two or more years of college or post-secondary work or be in their final two years of advanced work.
