Fall is a bustling time when the mind turns to holiday gift-giving, and this year offers something special. During the weekend of Oct.\ 12 and 13, West Haven artists are participating in a longstanding tradition known as City-Wide Open Studios. These events will be held free-of-charge, rain or shine. The events are artist-run, with support from ArtsWestCT, and designed for roaming around to see different parts of the city.
14 Gilbert St. — #M208 Shoreline Artist Collective (SLAC) featuring Bill Enck, Jenna Gonzalez, Pietro Spagnulo, Edith Reynolds, Victor Smith, and Louise Cadoux. Paintings, sculpture, and mixed media works. Artists Matthew Feiner & Susan Clinard showing in the same building. Sat & Sun, 12-4pm. 150 Front Ave. — (same neighborhood as above) at The Building Complex, Art Around the World, an outdoor mural project implemented over two years by dozens of artists. Saturday 2-6pm food truck with gifts, art and greeting cards by Elizabeth Wallace-Hunt, Artrilla’s Creations, Crystal’s Sweets & Treats, “JoeGoul” Romei, MondoTrasho Art, Stockboy Designs, Sylvia Yanez, and others. Sunday 6pm food truck and live violin performance followed by documentary film screening with University of New Haven students – bring your own chair and enjoy!
377 Main St. #105 (Lower Level — Directly across from the Green) paintings, drawings, and photographs by Libby Earle, Mattieu Waldemar, and others at ArtsWestCT’s offices Sat & Sun, 2-6pm. Includes a special collection of ink drawings of insects and trilobites made by a deceased artist employed for many years by the Peabody Museum. Free parking behind City Hall.
265 Main St Elks Lodge Fall Craft Fair — Saturday, 10-3, includes handmade and vintage items, featuring David Dulko, Donna Barent, Christine Deihl, and other artists from West Haven Senior Center.
