Have you ever felt like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz? Did you ever see yourself living outside of West Haven because of a dream you thought you couldn’t achieve in this great city of ours?
There are many people that have felt that way, the artistic kind, who thought they couldn’t be who they wanted to be by staying and left this city many times but for one reason or another only to find themselves right back in the greatest city I know, West Haven Connecticut.
As the years progressed, so did this town, in a major way. More homeowners are taking a chance in their longtime dream of raising their family in a town where they played and walked to school together. Carnivals and festivals where neighborhood people would sell their handcraft ideas and movie night on the green sharing popcorn and memories.
Years ago, there was no place to create or use your imagination. People thought they could never be what they were called to do, feeling “I’m just not good enough”. But today in this great town of ours it is always evolving, changing with the times.
This city, my city, has now invested in the artist, the person next door, the one who was too scared to try, the one who kept on leaving and coming back. Yes, our great city of West Haven cares about you, the artist by supporting grand openings where artists can go for help like ArtWest CT and at the head of that help is Elinor Slomba, director who has made many artists’ dreams come true in this town.
So, if you think you can’t follow your dream or be all that you can be by staying in West Haven, then you’re missing out on some great opportunities that await you.
So, dream big, we Westies can handle it and remember, there’s no place like home.
