State Rep. Dorinda Borer (D-115) has been named Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, which makes her one of the top leaders in the chamber.
“Dorinda’s leadership, talent, experience and commitment make her the ideal choice to be one of the top leaders in the House Chamber,” said Speaker of the House Matt Ritter. “In just a few short years, Dorinda has proven to be an instrumental and reliable leader that can work across the aisle and deliver results.”
When the Speaker of the House is absent from the chamber, the Deputy Speaker presides over the House of Representatives.
“I’m both grateful and humbled that Speaker Ritter has put his faith in me. Serving in an executive leadership role is an honor,” Rep. Borer said. “I am looking forward to upholding this great commitment and to working closely with Speaker Ritter to support his efforts in shaping the legislative agenda for 2023.”
In her most recent leadership role as House Chair of the Bonding Subcommittee, Rep. Borer spearheaded a $2 billion bipartisan bond bill and worked with legislators to authorize more than $160 million in investments in cities and towns across Connecticut.
Since winning a special election in 2017, Borer has an impressive list of leadership accomplishments, which include stints as Chair of the Veterans’ Affairs and Environment Committees.
