Building Committee Chairman Ken Carney issued an interim report of sidewalk construction completed and/or under construction as approved by the City Council, recently. The construction plans are part of the expenditures under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), and the publication is a means to keep reisents up to date on the projects and the expenditures. Carney said the report is meant to convey transparency on all projects under his committee’s aegis.
Sidewalks for Mackrille:
- Replace the existing asphalt sidewalk with concrete along chase lane serving Mackrille school. Includes the installation of an ADA ramp.
- Create a central sidewalk through the Mackrille parking lot from Chase Lane to an existing side walk from the school.
- Includes a safety speed bump with a cross walk.
- Install one sidewalk on the Jones Hill Road side at the perimeter of the island joining the existing sidewalk.
- Extend an existing sidewalk from jones hill road along the east side island to the existing crosswalk serving the jones hill side entrance of the school.
- Includes upgrading 4 ADA ramps to meet code. All sidewalk work is extending from existing sidewalks.

- Pour a new concrete sidewalk to connect two existing sidewalks at the front of the school along Morgan Lane.
- Replace deficient sidewalks along Morgan Lane that service Bailey Middle school for a total of 8 Panels.
