
Cappetta’s Italian Imports faced off against Top Hat Dance Academy, with Cappetta’s taking the 2-0 victory for their second to last game. Layla Steel used her fancy footwork to get past the defense and assisted her teammates on both of their goals, one of which was scored by Divalisse Natal. She used her speed and patience to blast one into the net. Porto Funeral Home won their game, 2-1, over P & B Express, and the West Haven Elks Lodge 153 fell, 3-1, to Keenan Funeral Home.
The WH Italian American Civic Assn. outplayed the Gilded Gals, winning 4-1. Connex Credit Union and RQ Accounting & Tax Services could not get the edge on each other, ending in a 0-0 tie. The Dayton Street Apizza Grey team had their best game of the season in a thrilling 4-4 tie with Batts Plumbing. Daimeon Griffin was on fire up front, knocking in two goals. Norman Hart was a force in midfield, scoring one himself and setting up a perfect assist, leading to an awesome goal scored off a header by Josh Portillo. Nour El Mouki held it down in goal with some big-time saves to keep the game close. American Legion Post 71 shut out the West Haven Police Local 895, 2-0.
The West Haven Federation of Teachers played against the George Ellis Company. Both teams displayed remarkable sportsmanship and engaged in an exciting game that ended in a 2-2 draw. Mason Zielanski demonstrated outstanding defensive abilities, never backing down, and his great positioning skills played a pivotal role in the game. He consistently cleared the ball with sharp awareness and delivered powerful shots. Gael Portillo showcased excellent passing skills, making several interceptions and maintaining superb ball control. Alexander Contreras was pivotal in the game, exhibiting passing, interceptions, and footwork. The final game in the U15 boys bracket saw Nick’s Luncheonette and Stars Ice Cream tie, 5-5.
Baybrook Remodelers played a thrilling game against West Shore Family Dental, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw. The game stayed 0-0 until late in the second half when Savannah Gilchrist scored. Charlie Murray and Liliyani Amaro were excellent goalies, blocking tough shots on the net. In the final seconds of the game, West Shore Family Dental found the back of the net to tie it up.
The Milano & Wanat Gold Dragons won, 4-3, against Batts Plumbing. Jalen Hoskie played amazingly in goal. Dylan Quizhpe, Tyler Franklin, Jalen Linen, and Lucas Egraca all contributed goals in the win. Frankie’s of West Haven beat Physicians Physical Therapy by a narrow margin, coming out on top, 1-0, and the University of New Haven Navy Chargers defeated the Law Office of Paul V. Carty by the same score. Stowe’s Seafood and the Gunning Law Firm Dragons played an exciting 4-4 tie.
The West Haven Federation of Teachers Gold Dragons ended the season in a hard-earned tie against Nick’s luncheonette, 2-2. Landon Alling and Ryan Dos Santos each scored. Cyncere Harris and Uzair Safi played amazing defense to help hold the tie. For Nick’s Luncheonette, Chenrick Dedungpa was a force to be reckoned with on the wing, showcasing exceptional dribbling, pinpoint passing, and a knack for gaining possession. The defensive line proved impenetrable thanks to the efforts of Jingme Dedungpa, who made crucial interceptions, effectively marked opponents, and displayed outstanding communication. Nathan Almeida provided vital support, clearing the ball with relentless determination and showcasing remarkable blocking skills and accuracy, saving multiple scoring attempts. Baybrook Remodelors dominated their last win, 7-1. Goals were made by Bianca Diallo, Riley Onde, Avalyn Wilder & Laila Clayton. Bianca Dinallo and Charlie Murray guarded the net. Katherine Samaniego made multiple assists. Hamidat Tidjani, LilithBelle Warcholic & Liliyani Amaro played tough defenders.
The Dayton Street Apizza team wrapped up their season with a 3–1 victory over George Ellis Company. Ahmed Abdelrhaman Mohamed scored on a penalty kick, with two more goals added from Norman Hart and Edward Freire. Arnold Okyere played well in midfield, while Carlos Garcia Perez was strong on defense. The Blue Devils had a dominating performance in their last game, with a hat trick by Christian Venta-Aguilar. Daniel Barnes, Ace Hemming, Cash Papa, Idris Green and Luca D’Elia added goals for the Blue Devils. Cade Hemming had a great performance on defense.
The West Haven U10 girls travel team played a tough game against North Haven to conclude the season. Bianca Dinallo and Isabella Echeandia Ramirez scored. Aaliyah Castillo Ramirez was outstanding on defense, blocking many shots at net. LilithBelle Warcholic was a brave goalie for almost the entire game making excellent saves and blocking many goals. Riley Onde played an excellent game as forward setting up goals and keeping the ball up field. The U10 Westies finished up their season by participating in the Cheshire Conte Tournament. West Haven defeated Cheshire, 4-1, and Coginchaug, 5-1. West Haven met Wallingford in a suspenseful rematch from the regular season, this time resulting in a tie, 2-2. Goals were scored by Riley Onde, Bianca Dinallo, Avalyn Wilder, and Mackenzie Vargas. Savannah Gilchrist, Katherine Samaniego, and Vivian Andrade made some outstanding assists and shots on net. Aaliyah Castillo Ramirez and Angela Guerrero were nearly impassable defenders.
The West Haven U12 boys travel team finished the season with two impressive wins. Midweek action saw the young Westies take on Guilford. It was a close back-and-forth game that saw West Haven finish on top, 4-3. Jaxon Cruz contiuned his excellent form as the team’s top goalie, making save after save. Jacob Rader, Seth Empric, and Collin Gibbons kept Guilford at bay late in the game with some stellar defensive play. Taha Ozhan tried to move the ball upfield, and Julian Castillo and Matteo D’Elia were aggressive in the midfield. On Sunday, the boys challenged themselves playing up against the Amity U13 team, winning 4-3. West Haven jumped to an early lead, as Roland Green, Davonte King, and Ryan Abekah all combined to get the ball into the back of Amity’s goal. Joseph Ruiz and Ben Trenchard worked hard on defense, using their bodies to shield the ball and win tackles against their older opponents. Jonathan King and Ethan Fonseca were pivotal in the center of the field, and Jax Guarino and Luca DeCrescenzo helped the team hang on for the win late in the game.
