The Rev. E. Carl Howard, senior minister of the First Congregational Church, announced the church is hosting a City-Wide Memorial Service to remember and honor the lives lost to COVID-19. He is inviting residents to come to the Green to participate. The outdoor memorial will take place at 7:30 p.m. on May 13 and include a lighting ceremony.
Speakers include: the Honorable Nancy R. Rossi, mayor; Howard and other clergy and spiritual leaders of the West Haven Community, the ringing of the church bells will occur at 8:02 p.m. in a moment of unity and remembrance.
“Despite the roll-out of vaccines, the effects of the pandemic are still present, with many Westies still grieving the loss of family, friends, and neighbors. We must honor and remember those who have died and reflect on what has been one of the more challenging periods in the city’s history, and renew our commitment to coming together as we heal together,” Rev. Howard said.
