As the Fall season for West Haven Youth Soccer came to a close, there was a lot of action and close games. The West Haven Federation of Teachers played an intense and exciting match against Nick’s Luncheonette, with Nick’s Luncheonette narrowly taking the win, 5-4. Both teams gave it their all, showcasing outstanding effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship from start to finish. Mohamed Nasr stood out in goal, blocking multiple shots with determination and displaying strong leadership and remarkable skill throughout the game. Up front, striker Chenrick Dedungpa was unstoppable as his speed, footwork, stamina, and communication made him a constant threat on the field. In the midfield, Carson Silaa demonstrated that hard work truly pays off. His powerful clears, excellent ball control, and unwavering focus kept the team in contention until the final whistle.
The Milano & Wanat Grey Wolves lost a hard-fought game to Batts Plumbing, by a score of 3-2. Tyler Franklin and Vinny Iannucci both scored. Prince Guilavogui and Jalen Hoskie, Jr., gave standout performances on defense.
Last weekend, the Milano & Wanat Grey wolves won 2-0 against Elsie Encarnacion State Farm Insurance. Thanush Urolana did great defensivley in goal and then on offense as he scored his first goal. Lucas Egraca scored on an indirect kick and played great in the midfield. The Wild Cats played a tough game, falling short against Frankie’s of West Haven. Cash Papa, Dominic Ferris, Hazem Mansour and Diego Gonzalez-Toriz all had a great showing in the tough loss. Keenan Funeral Home Maroon Dragons played Porto Funeral Home. Nolan Williams and Adrian Spodick Gage displayed exceptional grit and determination, inspiring their teammates throughout the game. The Dayton Street Apizza Blue Knights played a great game against Stars Ice Cream, despite a tough 7-5 loss. Dayton Street Apizza showed impressive teamwork and determination. Joshua Portillo and Edward Freire were dynamic on the field, while Carlos Garcia Perez played great defense.
In travel team action, the West Haven U10 Girls Travel team emerged victorious, clutching a hard-fought 1-0 victory against rival Madison. A brilliant strike from forward Savannah Gilchrist, powered by a setup from Anna Howery ensured the win. The West Haven defense turned away every Madison threat. The center-back combo of Hamidat Tidjani, Melody Feliciano, and Angela Guerrero formed an impenetrable wall. Midfielders Vivian Andrade and Elaina Cuenca were everywhere at once. They kept the ball moving forward, disrupting Madison’s attempts for attack. Despite the late lead, Madison pressed hard for an equalizer, but the Westies defense held firm. Goalkeeper Charlotte Murray commanded the box. The defensive effort ensured that Gilchrist’s lone goal was enough to secure the 1-0 win.
The West Haven U14 Boys Travel team had two big wins as the season nears a close. Last weekend the Westies traveled to Madison and won 6-2. Roland Green led the scoring on the day, picking up four goals. Ethan Fonseca and Mohammed Lamkhantar rounded out the scoring. Jacob Rader led the backline, and kept Madison at bay, with help from Collin Gibbons and Joey Ruiz. Julian Castillo, Taha Ozhen, and Derek Rawls played well in the midfield. Jaxon Cruz made some big saves in goal to preserve the win for the Westies. This past weekend saw West Haven on the road again, this time taking on North Haven, winning 2-0. Davonte King put West Haven ahead after a fantastic solo effort in the first half, and Adam Lamkhantar added the insurance goal in the second half. Enzo Cordero and Cruz kept the shutout in goal, with help from Ben Trenchard and Seth Empric, who put in a strong defensive effort. Ryan Abekah kept the North Haven defense busy as he made solid runs off the ball and combined well with his teammates. Matteo D’Elia played well on both sides of the ball in midfield, and Luca Decrescenzo and Jax Guarino hustled on the flanks.
