In the opening round of the Dini Tournament the Gunning Law Firm Mets defeated the Augliera Mover Pirates, 5-1. Jayden Roby was the winning pitcher allowing only one hit over four innings. Jonathan Jackson and Maurizio Urriola had doubles and RBI for the Mets. Maurizio also made an unassisted double play to kill a Pirates rally. Marcus Burrows and Mark Lynch had key hits for the Pirates.
The Baseball Card Mania Red Sox beat the Leslie Jeweler Dodgers, 6-0.
The Pirates defeated the Dodgers, 6-5, in the losers’ bracket as the Pirates had a late rally to take the lead.
In the winners’ bracket the Woodlawn Duckpin Bowling Yankees beat the Mets, 10-3. Colby Faughnan, Mikey Alfano, and Tenzin Kyaptenpa combined for 10 hits including 4 doubles. Matt Cavallaro had two hits and Ryan Bernardi had a triple for the Yankees. Ben Carfora had two hits and Jayden Roby had a triple for the Mets.
Continuing in the winners’ bracket the Yankees defeated the Red Sox, 7-1. Mikey Alfano had a homerun for the Yankees to advance to the championship game.
Back in the losers’ bracket the Pirates beat the Mets, 7-6, in a rain-shortened game. Adam Limauro had the winning RBI. Devin Bernier scored the tying run with Tegan Grillo coming in for the go-ahead run. Ben Carfora had an inside-the-park homerun for the Mets.
