The West Haven Republican Town Committee will be honoring local community “unsung heroes” at a brunch to be held on Sunday, April 7, at Lorenzo’s Restaurant, 39 Elm St.
The honorees were chosen based upon their significant contributions and the positive impact each has made to the local community and include:
Michelle M. Caprio: Michelle is relentless with her support for the less fortunate in our community. Whether it is fundraising, food and clothing collections, or events for the homeless, she is right there helping others in their time of need. Furthermore, Michelle is known to reach out to those of us who can help others and engage their talents and resources.
Meli Garthwait: Meli is the founder of the 501(c)(3) public charity Green Fur Kidz, Inc. whose mission is, “Rescuing, Rehabilitating & Rehoming dogs that are safe for all family members … & then Repeating!” While not rescuing and finding safe homes for fur babies, Meli also spearheads the Sandy Point Bird Sanctuary Community Clean-ups which includes hosting a brunch for those who would like to go after a morning’s hard work.
As part of the brunch festivities, and to recognize the Point of Light National Volunteer Week, the West Haven RTC will once again conduct a food collection for WHEAT. All attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items.
