Gripe Vine Readers:
Back in early June, Gripe Vine published a complaint from a reader who witnessed a pedestrian frightened by a dog while walking on Thomas Street and Captain Thomas Boulevard. Apparently the dog was on an extending leash, leaving the walker frightened.
I contacted Councilman William Conlon regarding this complaint, his reply, “If a dog is not properly restrained, the owner should be reported to the police 203 937-3900.”
My response to the Councilman, “Thank you for your reply, but I feel it is too generalized. Please report this situation to the Animal Control who will identify the owner by proper records. If a dog is that threatening, who is going to go to the owner and ask for information? Animal Control may keep an eye out for this offender.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
When are the potholes on Plainfield Street going to be filled?
H, Curious
Dear HJ, Curious:
Gripe Vine asked Councilman Peter Massaro and to date, haven’t heard a fill in date.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There is trash in the woods on Stevens Street. I believe it is private property and the owner apparently doesn’t care what it looks like. Occasionally Public Works comes by and cleans it. Unfortunately, this area is dark and does not have any streetlights which invites dumping.
I cannot begin to understand why people toss trash into the environment intentionally.
C/C ICARE
Dear C/C:
I notified Councilman Mitchell Gallignano and haven’t received a reply indicating your gripe has been investigated. Please keep in touch. I feel confident Councilman Gallignano will look into your complaint and the gripes below and inform Gripe Vine of the results of these gripes.
In addition, Councilman Gallignano received a pothole gripe on Dell Street. A reader wrote, “Numerous potholes on Dell Street keep getting a shovel full of fill instead of a real repair.”
Another complaint sent to Councilman Gallignano from Gripe Vine, “Potholes on Isadore and Simon Place. These potholes are filled from time to time, but they get turned up after a few weeks.”
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There is a deep hole on Fairfax Street with an orange cone on it. When will it get fixed?
I have also heard that the orange cone was run over and is lying fat in the street.
H.J., Tired of it
Dear Tired of It:
Council Woman Robbin Hamilton was brought to the attention of your complaint as well as potholes on Fairfax Street.
