Dear Eleanore Turkington:
I am writing as I have a huge gripe with our mayor we have running our city. How dare she postpone the Fireworks to Labor Day weekend again!!
When the carnival at the church was postponed, reasons were due to security reasons and to prep for the fireworks celebration Fourth of July weekend! But now, she decided to make the executive decision to postpone them again! Does she not realize the Fourth of July Fireworks are the biggest celebration that West Haven has very year and that it brings tons of revenue for small business located in this town? There was no mention that she was considering this as a possibility, no discussion no open forum ALLOWING West Haven residents to have an opinion if WE wanted this or not. Nope, just decided to keep quiet and make the decision herself. Such a typical politician forgetting that she works FOR the people NOT for herself.
My family and I look forward to the Fourth of July fireworks every year and I know that I’m not alone on this!
Celebrating the fireworks on Fourth of July Weekend is not only a symbolism of summer, but also a celebration of becoming an independent country. No one has fireworks Labor Day weekend and we will now be the only city/town to do such a thing!

There is an empty lot on Plainfield Avenue that is full of grass and bushes that are not being taken care of and it is out of control.
