Gripe Vine Readers:
Before I begin writing today’s column, I would like to ask your opinions on what West Haven taxpayers should do with the now defunct idea of a brewery in West Haven. Do you think this building could become a money maker? Or perhaps housing offering music concerts or visiting art museums or a playhouse for aspiring young musicians? If you feel you would like to offer your input, send it to [email protected] I’ll be looking forward to your mail. Or mail your opinion to Gripe Vine 840 Boston Post Road, West Haven 06516
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
I live in North Branford. I am a former West Haven resident of 25 years. I lived on both Noble and Park Street.
My parents met on the bumper car ide and were together far 57 years and died on Park Street. My love for West Haven goes deep…
I am retired and in West Haven five days a week if not more to see and help my elderly friend.
Finally, my grapes: I traveled north on my way home and hit a pothole on Blohm Street in late July. I hit it a second time in August. I forgot it was there. I slammed it harder the second time. I was mad at myself, but thankful my tire was fine.
I took matters into my own hands and went to the beach for some ZEN time and then gathered up a big bag of seashells. I poured them into the pothole, but it didn’t even fill halfway!
So now, I avoided it at all costs So now, August arrives, and the freaking hole is still there. I guess no one else hit it although the shells seemed stirred up from being hit. Well, I saw a few sandbags near the sign at the end of Blohm Street, so I drove a bag of sand to the pothole and dropped it n. I filled the hole completely. I figured I’d be faster than the city by the time they put in the work order my car’s tire might have been destroyed. I know I would have hit it a third time.
That’s my gripe and instead of waiting three months did the best I could. I love West Haven. By the way, it’s not the city workers themselves, they are great!!! It’s all the paperwork I dislike.
Maybe you can get it to fill correctly?
For the love of Westies!.
