Dear Eleanore Turkington:
My wife and I were driving down Peck Avenue and met a herd of 10 bicyclists in the middle of the road blocking it, popping wheelies, almost causing an accident and stopped traffic. POLICE TAKE ACTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE.
Safety Conscious
Dear Safety Conscious:
I have notified Louis Esposito, the mayor’s executive assistant of your complaint. His reply, “I spoke to the Traffic Division and they said they would check it out.” Please let me know if this practice has stopped.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There used to be a sign warning motorists not to park on the side of Overlook, the next intersection from Ocean Avenue. Will a sign indicating No Parking be replaced at this site?
Impatient
Dear Impatient:
Louis Esposito, Mayoral Executive Assistant has informed Gripe Vine that he notified the traffic division of the Police Department to see what can be done here. I will publish Esposito’s complete report on this area as soon as he receives a reply from the traffic division.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There are numerous pot holes that keep getting a shovel of fill instead of a real repair on Dee Street. West Haven, please take care of this. Three years and the holes are still here.
Time to Get It Done
Dear Time to Get It Done:
According to Mayor’s Executive Assistant, Louis Esposito, “I gave this complaint to our Highway Department. The holes should be done by the time you receive this, Eleanore.”
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
I have been keeping track of the trucks traveling on Voss Road for a while now. I have submitted a picture of one of the trucks to you. They are traveling too fast; mostly the same white truck has been going through the “No Trucks Allowed” street. It’s rather annoying when it’s rumbling up or down the street. I’m sure the damage is small to the homes, but, over time I bet there’s damage to or foundations.
It was worse before the city paved the street. I know it’s not easy to stop this as the times vary so much. I just hope this could stop. I understand, an occasional truck gets mis-directed or has some problem navigating the streets, but I’ve seen the same trucks keep cutting through.
As always, thank you for being there for the people of West Haven.
RD
Dear RD:
Thank you for the list of violators, license plate information and time slots you provided. I forwarded this information to the Mayor’s Executive Assistant, Louis Esposito who replied, “This complaint and vehicle information to the traffic division and they will monitor Voss Road and try to track the license plate number.”
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There are a 100 pot holes on Kelsey Avenue from Circle Street, to Main Street. When something is done, only a patch job and not a real fix. This is a chronic issue on this street for years. When will something be done?
TOIA
Dear TOIA:
A response arrived from Louis Esposito, Executive Assistant to Mayor Nancy Rossi, “We are trying to take care of as many of the pot holes until we get our paving allocation. This will be one of our first priorities.”
