Dear Eleanore Turkington:
Cars are parking along Connecticut Avenue blocking emergency vehicles arrival if necessary. There is also garbage left on the street and beach here. People are changing their clothes in the middle of the neighborhood. The No Parking June-September signs that use to be installed on Connecticut Avenue and up the side streets are no longer there. What happened to them?
Fed Up Taxpayer
Dear Fed Up Taxpayer:
I have been communicating with the Mayor’s Executive Assistant, Louis Esposito with a number of complaints including yours. According to Esposito, “I gave this complaint to the West Haven Police Department a few weeks ago. I have also asked our highway department and the Police Department about the signs. They are trying to find out who took the signs or where they are.”
Fed Up Taxpayer and the residents who live in this area: Gripe Vine would like to see if these signs have been replaced yet. With all the hot weather upon us and heavy beach and water use, it would be to everyone’s benefit to see this gripe solved.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
Who maintains the previously installed bricks at the Veteran’s Walk of Honor? I have noticed as of Sunday, June 2, that several of the bricks had grass sprouting between them. If the city can’t afford to maintain this area, then I suggest that the city seek out some volunteers to do it.
RH
Dear RH:
As my readers know, Gripe Vine communicates with Mayor Nancy Rossi’s Executive Assistant Louis Esposito who has been assisting Gripe Vine with reader’s complaints. Relating to your complaint, Esposito replied, “I will have someone go down this week to spray the weeds.”
Please let me know, RH, if Esposito’s reply solved this problem.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
The West Haven Train Station is disgusting. The grounds around this place are in very, very bad condition. Such a beautiful station is going to the dogs.
RBS
Dear RBS:
I have been informed by the Mayor’s Executive Assistant that, “I met with personnel from the Department of Transportation three weeks ago about this complaint. They had their contractor come out that day and cut the area. I will call again to find out if they can do it on a more regular basis.”
Once again, readers, let me know if this clean- up has been performed. As I have said many times, you live in a beautiful city and it’s up to its residents to help keep it that way. I will try to help as much as I can.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
Has the leaf pickup by city employees been implemented yet?
LL
Dear LL:
Mayoral Executive Assistant, Louis Esposito replied, “Yes, we have been picking them up since the second week of June, but we are still behind. We’re working on a better plan.”
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There is a broken down vehicle on Winslow Avenue blocking the sidewalk for months. This is a very dangerous situation. You have walk in the street to get by.
Watch out Pedestrians
Dear Watch Out Pedestrians:

There is trash all over the side yard on Colonial Avenue, on the Honor Road side. Can this eyesore be cleaned up?
Environment Concerned

Keep Gripe Vine informed on this issue.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
Was the pot hole at 300 Derby Ave. ever repaired?
Disappointed
Dear Disappointed:
My thanks again, to Esposito, Mayor Nancy Rossi’s executive assistant who replied, “We did some pot holes on this road, but I will send our crew back out there.”
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
I love to go down to the beach with family and friends to play Bocce. Can you please find out what department is responsible for the upkeep of these courts other than the one on the boardwalk? They are in desperate need of some TLC.
