Dear Eleanore Turkington:
Why is it that almost all the gripes must go through Louis Esposito? I am a firm believer that one should go right to the source, i.e. the mayor herself, police department or public works depending on the gripe.
I am sure he (Louis Esposito) has investigated some of the complaints, but week after week, I see a lot of “unsolved” gripes! What’s up with this?
ML
Dear ML:
Thank you for writing and questioning the lack of Esposito’s responses to Gripe Vine. In all fairness, Esposito has answered some of my reader’s gripes. I have questioned his lack of responses recently. To date, I am waiting for his reasons for not doing so. He indicated that in many instances, he did follow up, notified Department heads and moved onto his other duties
In my opinion, following through is most important. I am sure you have read my messages to readers who have submitted complaints, “Let me know if there has been any progress or not.” I am sure Esposito has many duties to perform, but previous mayoral assistants dealt with gripes and kept Gripe Vine up to date on all complaints.
However, there are a number of complaints submitted to Esposito, that haven’t been returned to me yet. He has tried but there are still those not answered. I have about 20 or more that have arrived that I will be forwarding to him this week.
As far as going directly to the mayor, Esposito is her assistant and I am sure contacting department heads and relaying taxpayer’s complaints and informing Gripe Vine that city departments are doing their jobs is a taxing effort. If necessary and if resident’s complaints continue to be unproductive, I will ask Mayor Nancy Rossi for her assistance.
Many of your gripes are important, extremely important in my eyes, such as speeding motor vehicles, missing No Parking signs, blinking traffic lights pot holes and abandoned vehicles, just to name a few. Perhaps it’s time for Esposito, to urge department heads not only to follow up on these gripes but offer a speedy response to Esposito and my readers. Taxpayers want to know their concerns are the city’s concerns and efforts will be made to step up and “get the job done.”
Now, please keep in mind, Gripe Vine will be researching all your complaints. Keep them coming! I know many of you are very proud of your city, as I am. Let’s keep it that way. I will continue to relay your complaints to Louis Esposito, Mayor Nancy Rossi’s Executive Assistant for solutions.
