Gripe Vine Readers:
If you have been following this column regularly, you will have seen the lack of cooperation from Mayor Nancy Rossi’s reaction from my readers with many city-wide complaints. Fortunately, I have been able to obtain a complete list of West Haven’s streets and their relationship to each of the city’s councilmen districts.
Mayor Rossi has taken a no-hands-on, so, here is what I’m planning to do with your gripes and comments. Gripe Vine is going to publish your gripes and lead my readers to which councilman they can contact for assistance. I will list the councilmen’s phone number (I am researching councilmen’s email as well). You will have an excellent opportunity to speak to these individuals who represent you in West Haven. Of course, please continue to keep Gripe Vine in the loop as well. So, here we go!
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
A Ruden Street resident writes “Ruden Street meets the intersection at a very steep angle and at the bottom of the incline is a large pot hole. It’s so large that it is unavoidable. There is a bad pothole + a steep incline = vehicle damage. In such a common, trafficked area I’m surprised this hasn’t been addressed earlier
Ruden Street Resident
Dear Ruden Street Resident:
You may contact your Councilman for either the 5th or 6th District. You can call Robbin Watt Hamilton
at (203) 641-6448 or call Peter V. Massaro 6th District at (203) 687-1201. If you don’t receive their assistance, get back to me. The same message applies to all my readers.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
Why was the American Flag flying at half-staff for such a long time? At first, I thought it was for Bush’s funeral, but it stayed lowered until January first. Why?
RF
Dear RF:
Assuming you mean the flag on the Green and at City Hall, they are located in the First District. The First District is represented by Councilman Bridgette J. Hoskie. You can reach Councilman Hoskie by calling (203) 927-1537 to provide an answer to your question on American Flag etiquette.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There are three cars, not moved for weeks in a front yard on Savin Avenue, in the 400’s neighborhood. Apparently, the cars are not working and not registered with plates which, I am sure, do not belong to these cars. It looks like a junk yard.
Savin Avenue Taxpayer
Dear Savin Avenue Taxpayer:

Dear West Haven Councilmen:
If you will, take a moment after you investigate West Haven resident issues, please let me know the outcome so I can publish a fully completed report for my readers. Perhaps some of the complaints you hear may have been previously solved. If so, my readers and I appreciated your cooperation.
Mayor Rossi, I hope the town meetings you recently held with residents will be productive.
