Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There are two ballfields at Morse Park are lit up every night of the week with no one using the ballfields. These lights use massive amounts of electricity at great costs to West Haven taxpayers. Can something be done about this situation?
Budget Conscious
Dear Budget Conscious:
According to Carrie Malangone,”The President of the WHLL indicated the lights are on until about 8:30 p.m. during the week for fall ball. No games are being played on the weekends. Some lights are required to remain on for safety purposes.
If the lights are the ones to remain on 24/7, this is for the safety of anyone who enters the park after hours and need to be left on.
Malangone continued, We try our best to lock everything to keep people out of the park after hours, but if there is a will, there is a way.”
Malangone can be contacted at [email protected] with an update of the two ball park lights at Morse Park.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
The left signal from Derby Road to Forest Road is staying red/not changing. Traffic is forced to run the red light here. Can this condition be improved?
Red Light Runner
Dear Red Light Runner:
West Haven’s Complaint Officer, Francis Withington received your gripe and forwarded it to Catherine A. Watras, P.E. Transportation Engineer, Connecticut Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Engineering. “The traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Route 122 (Campbell Avenue) is still in the construction phase under State Project 158-170.
According to the Department’s District construction engineers, the contractor is already aware of the issues of Route 122 northbound drivers having a partial view of the U.S. Route 1 northbound indications adjacent to the left turn signal head as shown in the attached email.
The necessary louvers are coming from Texas and the storm has caused some delays. Once the parts are available, the work to install them will be expedited by the contractor.”
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There is roaring traffic on Ocean Avenue in spite of speed traps. Can’t something be done about this?
Scared
Dear Scared:
Francis Withington, West Haven’s Complaint Officer notified the West Haven Police Department of your Ocean Avenue speeding gripe. Although Ocean Avenue is a state road, Withington has asked our Police Department to touch bases with State Road officials for assistance here to curb the high speeding activities on this street.
