The West Haven Seahawks 10U Team (6-1) continued its path to the Pop Warner playoffs on Sunday with a convincing 38-6 win over the Amity Spartans.
Azriel Pizarro accounted for two rushing touchdowns and Yusef Turner, Daryl Small and TJ Stevenson all scored once. JJ Lugo returned a 60-yard interception for another score. Caden Stanley, Kody Barnes and Arthur Rossi tackled well and controlled the defensive side of the ball.
The Seahawks 12U team also upped its record to 6-1 with a 33-0 win at Amity. Aedan Coe, Bryan Tilman, Jovon Williams all had rushing scores. Quarterback Nick Conlan connected with Jovon Williams and Teriq Mallory on long touchdown passes. Anthony Dorsi, Kieandre Lymon and Tilman executed the extra points for the hawks. The defense played well as a unit not giving up much yardage to the Spartans.
The Seahawk 8U team (7-0) remained unbeaten with an impressive 34-13 win over a tough New Britain Raider team. Trayvon Jaynes had an 83-yard touchdown run. Tristian Crawford had an 81-yard scoring burst. Crawford scored twice on the day. Majesty Whitaker also had two scores in the game. Jermaine Gibbs and Kaedyn Des Ruisseaux added extra points. The defense was led by Jacari Harris and Mason Booker who proved to be disruptive to the Raider offense all game.
The Seahawk 14U team lost a heartbreaker and well-played game by a score of 22-19 to the Amity Spartans. Damari barker, Avyon Graham and Javar Smith played well in a tough loss.
The flag football teams traveled to Danbury and Stratford on Sunday. The blue team played a great game at Danbury and was led on offense by Jackson Boynton, Cameron Davis and Peyton Roach. On the defensive side Tyler Jackson, Aiden Dowdye and Ethan Rodriquez excelled.
The Green team traveled to Stratford and shined. Andrew Loehn connected with Emmanual Purdue for one the team’s scores. Aaron Sullo scored on another drive.
The regular season will close this Saturday at Veterans Field with all the teams hosting Manchester. The 8U game will start at 1, 10U at 3, 12U at 5, and the 14U game at 7. The flag teams will travel to Seymour high school for a jamboree on Sunday.
