

Fair Rent Commission Chairman Steven R. Mullins visited West Haven High School recently, where he presented his annual “Commissioner Mullins Youth Leadership Award” for the tenth time to two outstanding freshmen.
Bibi Hadi has a strong passion for the law, leadership, and helping others. She has been involved in several school organizations, including the Debate Club, where she has won numerous tournaments, the Future Health Professionals Club, Vice President of the Medical School Engagement Club, the Student Government and many more.
Hadi has given to the wider West Haven community through volunteering at local community centers. A skilled public speaker, she was asked to speak at the Rotary Club, where she won a competition and advanced to the regional level.
Charles Sutton has a great deal of involvement at West Haven High School. He has demonstrated leadership by his commitment to community service through participating in the “Fantastic Friends Club,” assisting students with developmental challenges. In the wider West Haven community, he volunteers his time with the Shore Haven Baseball League.
As a student athlete, Sutton played freshman football, contributing to the team’s undefeated season. His performance led to his promotion to varsity and ultimately dressing for the varsity team’s championship game.
Mullins presented each student with a framed certificate, a booklet of the United States Constitution and a check for $100.
The students were chosen by the West Haven High School Guidance Department.
