The West Haven Lacrosse 3/4 Lighting continued to roll with six wins over the last two weeks.
The Blue Devils avenged their only loss of the year with a come from behind win over the RELAX, 9-8. Rocco Kelly set up Charlie Gunning for the game winner with five seconds left. Trailing by three goals at the half, Cody Young started the rally with an early second half goal. Kelly and Gunning each notched four goals on the day. Jeremiah McGrath had four assists in the game. Anthony Parise got the win in goal.
Shea Outhavong scored to lead a 11-7 win over a tough Madison team. Andrew Hogan, Ben Trenchard, Shawn Gilbert and Ethan Dion led a solid defensive effort for the Westies. Ethan McGrath was solid in the net for the win and his toughness at and after halftime set the tone for the win. Kelly netted five and Gunning added four as the Westies blitzed Milford, 9-1. Jeremiah McGrath was solid in net with several great saves. Colin Whelan and Gilbert led the attack for the Westies. Parise and Hogan starred defensively. Kelly netted six and Gunning added four to lead a 12-4 win over Watertown. Jeremiah McGrath added two, including a tip in. Young was stellar in net for the win. Hogan, Gilbert, Outhavong and Colin Whelan led a 12-1 win over Wolcott.
The K-2 Westies played away to a tough Amity team on Sunday, falling 8-5, in a back-and-forth battle. Jadey Hill walked away with the game ball after he scored his first two career goals, assisted on the second by Emmett Hemming. Aron Guichard played strong defense as he fought for every ground ball. Ethan McGrath added a goal, after a nice passing play starting with Ben Trenchard who picked off an Amity pass. Trenchard cleared the ball to Jax Guarino, who beat a defender and relayed the ball to Brady Salkins. Salkins took the ball around the goal and set-up McGrath in front of the goal for a quick shot. Graig Uzarski showed some hustle in the game for the Westies.
