Mullins makes his case for mayoralty
As many residents may know, I have run for mayor of West Haven before. Despite the unsuccessful attempts in the past, I have never given up on working toward making West Haven a better place for us to raise our children and grandchildren in. And a better place to live out all of the aspects of life in.
In a previous race, my campaign team, fellow Republican candidates, as well as the West Haven Republican Town Committee came up with five proposed principles that every taxpayer in the City of West Haven should expect from their city government.
These principles, called the “Taxpayers Bill of Rights,” are just as true today as they were in all of those years ago. As mayor, I will work toward implementing these standards for the taxpayers of the City of West Haven and I am calling on ALL candidates for a municipal office, regardless of political party or office sought to join me in making this pledge to taxpayers of the City of West Haven.
They are:
1). Recognize that taxpayers are the backbone of this city and without this support, the city would NOT be able to function.
2). Recognize that every dollar collected in taxes should be spent with the utmost care.
3). Recognize that every taxpayer in the City of West Haven should be treated with the utmost respect when dealing with any taxing authority in the city and that problems or disputes will be treated in a timely fashion and with the utmost concern for the taxpayer.
4). Recognize that any expenditure, budget or contract negotiation will be conducted in such a way as to PROTECT the taxpayer from any undue financial hardship, knowing that every dollar spent is generated from the hard work of the taxpayers within this city.
5). Recognize that the city government has the duty to cut spending wherever it can in order to keep taxes as low as possible and relieve any financial distress on the taxpayer.
These are not Republican principles, nor Democrat principles. These are common sense principles that must be adhered to for the sake of all City taxpayers.

Cohen grateful for primary win
West Haven Republicans,
Thank you for your trust as demonstrated by your votes at the Republican Primary held on Sept. 12.
I am truly humbled and blessed by your support, friendship, and commitment.
The decisive results and high voter turnout are an inspiration, as well as a call to action that the status quo must go.
This is further evidenced by the thousands of households I’ve visited, as well as the countless business and community meetings held since we began our campaign last May. Whether it’s Democrat, Republican, Independent, or Unaffiliated, the message from voters is loud and clear: the same song, but a different verse of “politics as usual,” is unacceptable. The public trust is broken and the party that shattered it cannot be trusted to repair it.
This November election will be a Referendum on Change. Having the same party in power for over three decades has resulted in economic neglect, high taxes, blight, and financial corruption, as well as a decline in the safety and security of our senior citizens, veterans, and families.
West Haven Republicans are unified as demonstrated by the primary election results. Reaching across the aisle and finding common ground in the best interests and INPUT of the community, will offer Change for Better.
