The Old Grove Park is the site, June 21of the annual “Make Music Day,” scheduled to begin at 5:45, and continue with several scheduled performances. The family-friendly event is sponsored by ArtsWestCT.
“Make Music West Haven is part of the international Make Music Day movement which brings free, community-wide, musical celebrations to hundreds of cities worldwide. Every year, the celebration is held on June 21, the summer solstice, in more than 800 communities around the world,” said Elinor Slomba of ArtsWestCT.
On hand will be Puma, a certified therapy dog. Attendees can make an instrument with repurposed materials, while organizations will have information about their activities. These include the West Haven Public Library and Bridges Health Care.
At 5:45, the opening song features kids from West Haven Child Development Center.A t 6, a Community Open Mic commences, emceed by Fernanda Franco of the band F.A.T.E. (Fernanda & the Ephemeral). At 7:15Wave Artist Lee Mixashawn Rozie will perform.Those with a desire to dance can follow West Haven choreographer Zaneta Nichoson & Friends. A Jazz Jam follows at 8, which wraps up the event.
