It was in the form of a press release, and with it, the West Haven Chamber of Commerce merged with the Milford Chamber to become one organization. The merger is expected to aid the effectiveness of the organization in doing its work, officials said.
The West Haven Chamber, beset by low membership and the decrease of programs over the last several years, is joining the growing number of local groups that are using a regional model, according to the announcement. Part of the problem has been COVID-related.
“As the region continues to open up in a post covid world there are numerous challenges that have to be met, and with a larger business community to confront the challenges both Milford and West Haven will emerge in a better place,” the announcement said. “As we move forward with the integration of our two communities, we will appreciate the feedback on how to best serve the West Haven business community and look forward to hearing your insights so that we can continue to create growth in West Haven.”
The merger offers new ways of offering programs for local businesses, according to the press release.
“With the addition of the West Haven Chamber, we now will serve a much broader and diverse business community through advocacy, business and economic development, education, and leadership. We look forward to welcoming West Haven Chamber members and providing you the many opportunities we have to offer,” it stated..
The Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce is a 501C-6 non-profit membership organization comprised
