In West Haven Youth Soccer action, Milano & Wanat played the Vio’s Sports Orange Tigers to a 2-2 tie this weekend. The game saw some nice passing with some good foot work from both sides. Defense was big at the end of the game for Milano & Wanat. Goalie Nour El Mouki made several key saves and defenders James Nhean and Ace Haughton helped protect the goal. Goals were scored by Jaxon Cruz and Ethan Fonseca for Milano & Wanat and Pablo Lopez and Aiden Dowdye for Orange Tigers. The Gunning Law Firm Rhinos defeated Cappetta’s Italian Imports 6-0, picking up their third straight shutout. The Rhinos started the game with a ton of energy, with early goals by Emma Routh and Avery Linen. Valentina Massa and Julianna Aviles lead the charge with great tackling and passing.
The #DAVILATRIBE Sharks played the Stowe’s Seafood Emeralds, with the Emeralds beating the Sharks, 7-2. For the Sharks, Makayla Botchie played great on defense. Julian Crudo helped move the ball up to her teammates, and Jada Turner scored for her team keeping them in the game. For the Emeralds, Karla Urgiles scored her first goal of the season and Sofia Bongiorni-Nucci had a hat trick. Aurora Chevalier had some big saves in goal.
West Shore Family Dental had a good offensive game against Stars Ice Cream, being led by Nylah Beyah and Sophie Mazuroski. Dayanna Calle Va had another great day in the net with several key stops. Isabell Millard and Alisssa Wala worked hard and Leila Lancaster had a good game in midfield. The Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center Gold Ninjas had an awesome and fun game against P&B Express Blue Lizards. Liam Rowland keeps getting better each week in speed, strength, and communication, and Zeke Hanlin displayed some quick dribbling skills and scored. Sami Vahora never runs out of energy and showed some great moves, while Alexander Wright showed a lot of skill and hustle to earn his hat trick. For the Lizards, Alexander Urgiles found himself at the heart of many key defensive plays doing a great job of clearing the ball and winning tackles. Youssef El haouzi hustled around the field making great passes and Abdel-Nasir Issaka had a great team attitude jumping between two fields and providing positive energy and demonstrated his team spirit and ball handling.
The R. Mark Pappas Blue Birds played #DAVILATRIBE Irish Green with the Green coming out on top, 6-5. The Bluebirds’ Allyson Hernandez had five goals. The defense was anchored by Brook O’ Mara and Tomi Yekinni made several great plays to turn away attacking danger. In net for the Bluebirds, Amelia Rambo played strong making several stops and directing the defense. Isabella Celentano, Emilie Werle, and Gabby Watson played well for the Bluebirds.
The Seacrest Retirement Center FC lost, 5-1, to Stars Ice Cream. Robin Munoz Escobedo and Charles Jeffrey split time between defense and goalie making big plays, while Daniel Goldberg controlled the middle and Abdsalam Naas scored for the Seacrest Retirement FC. The Elite Soccer Camps Golden Wolves took on Sports Sanitizing of CT, with the Wolves, winning 3-0. Ryan Abekah scored, and joined Santino Amato preserving the shut out in goal. James Bayona and Maddox Carrasquillo worked hard to win the ball, and Dante Douthit showed a lot of hustle. James Warren and Maaz Mohamednour played well on defense in the win for the Wolves.
The Top Hat Dance Academy West Haven U10 girls, riding a five-game winning streak, played at home against Milford. West Haven played their best game of the year, with excellent ball movement and great positioning. The duo of Phoebe DiNuzzo and Kendall Gilchrest played a great game on defense. Alessia Coletta and Amy Congacha provided the scoring to secure the 5-0 win for West Haven.
