Fireworks Committee plans fundraisers
“They will be heard on the Third!” The Savin Rock Fireworks Committee is fundraising for the display in West Haven on July 3. The committee raises the funds by seeking donations from area businesses and by holding fundraisers. The next fundraiser is the Cornhole Tournament (June 8 — TCB).

WHHS Class of ‘56 and Honor Society
The West Haven Class of 1956 is planning its 65th reunion for May of next year. The event will include marking the anniversary of the founding of the National Honor Society Chapter, which happened in 1955.

GOP 9th confab set for June
The Nine District Town Committee delegation has scheduled a meeting for the first Thursday of each month to search for new Republican Party members, and those who might want to get involved in the district, and town committee work. The meetings are scheduled for the Republican Town Committee Headquarters, 315 Morgan Lane and will be chaired by Anthony Vartuli. The next meeting is June 6.

Support group for sight impaired
“Our Journey of Sight,” a low vision/blind support group meets monthly at the West Haven Public Library 300 Elm St, from 10 to noon on the third Friday of the month. This is not a regulatory group, but a group that provides a monthly speaker, and support each other during members’ journey of visual loss.
Dog owners reminded of licensing
June is Dog Licensing Month, and residents who own dogs at least 6 months old must renew their licenses by June 30 or face a $1 monthly fine, City Clerk John W. Lewis said.
State law requires dog owners to submit a current rabies vaccination certificate when applying for the new dog tags. Expired certificates are not accepted.
The fee for the two licenses, which are available in the city clerk’s office of City Hall, 355 Main St., is $8 for neutered or spayed dogs and $19 for other dogs.
Residents can also send vaccination records and checks in a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Office of the City Clerk, 355 Main St., West Haven 06516. For dogs that have last year’s tag number, license renewals are available online: https://searchiqs.com/iqsdogrenewal/?CC=CTWHA.
Class of ‘64 plans ‘Get-Together
