Another two weeks of great soccer is complete! On May 23rd, the Milano & Wanat Blue Panthers had a strong battle against Physicians Physical Therapy. Down 2-0 at the half the team came back to tie 3-3. Anthony Gambardella, Tyler Franklin, and Blake Bova all scored. William Marmelstein had a strong defensive game. The West Haven Police Local #895 Fire Tigers played a great game against Frankie’s of West Haven, falling short in a 5-4 loss. Uzair Safi scored a hat trick with Noah Flores adding a goal. Dominic Ferris had a great game in goal.
Nick’s Luncheonette defeated The University of New Haven 5-3 in a tough game. The Law Office of Paul V. Carty delivered a strong performance in a great game against the George Ellis Company. Amaya Cruz was a standout player, scoring multiple goals while making a major impact on both ends of the field. Her speed, quick thinking, and accurate passing allowed her to control the pace of the game and create numerous scoring opportunities. Isabella Battipaglia played a crucial role on defense, consistently shutting down offensive attacks and intercepting multiple scoring opportunities. She showed excellent awareness on the field, quickly gaining possession of the ball. Violet Delgado demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination, and confidence throughout the game. She scored an impressive goal after skillfully working her way through defenders and showed outstanding coordination and ball control.
The Physicians Physical Therapy face off against Porto Funeral Homes. It was a hard-fought game, but at the end Physicians Physical Therapy won, 3-2. Shavier Medley scored twice and Joshua Jordan Jr had a breakaway goal. Joshua Velez played an enthusiastic defense. The Keenan Funeral Home Orange Fires played very well against P & B Express. Kenny Fernandez had extra fire in his step throughout the game. Cade Hemming had a hat trick, with Adrian Spodick and Amar Elseed also adding a few goals of their own.
Baybrook Remodelers beat Elsie Encarnacion State Farm Insurance, 4-1 and the First Congregational Church of WH fell to Keenan Funeral Home, 1-0. The West Haven Federation of Teachers Union team played against Lorenzo’s Ristorante Italiano.
Benedict Awauh displayed determination, speed, and confidence every time he touched the ball. His exceptional ball control and strong shooting technique helped him score multiple goals and played a major role in securing the win for his team. Akif Alhassan remained focused and composed throughout the entire game. Akif’s passing accuracy and smart decision making contributed greatly to the team’s success and helped create several scoring chances. Mason Zielanski brought intensity and energy to the game, proving to be a dominant force on both offense and set plays. He scored multiple goals with impressive finishes and delivered strong, precise passes that were difficult for the opposing team to defend.
This past weekend the Milano and Wanat Blue Panthers played a tough game against Shoreline Wellness Center. Despite losing, 3-2, the team battled until the very end. Tyler Franklin scored both goals. Cian Sullivan played a great game in goal. Jalen Hoskie played the entire game and gave a standout performance on defense. The Keenan Funeral Home Orange Fires kept up the momentum playing Pinky’s Embroidery & More. Mohammad Olagbenro got a trio of beautiful goals, with Xavier Nanneti adding one of his own. Gage Hemming and Asher Gorham showed extra hustle throughout the game.
The West Haven Police Local 895 Fire Tigers earned a victory over WH Federation of Teachers Local 1547, with goals scored by Luca D’Elia, Jonathan Dias and Uzair Safi. Jacob Burton had a great game in goal. Aithan DeJesus also played a great game. Top Hat Dance Academy played a great game against the WH Professional Fire Fighters. Gianna Iannucci was exceptional on the field, leading the offensive attack with multiple goals. Her speed, ball control, and dribbling ability created numerous scoring opportunities, while her passion for the game was evident every time she touched the ball. Gianna’s energy and effort helped set the tone for the team’s success. Alyiah McCollum was relentless from start to finish. She consistently battled for possession, never hesitating to challenge for the ball and helping her team maintain control throughout the game. Her determination and talent continue to make her a valuable asset, and she once again delivered an impressive performance. Keyla Miranda also had a standout game, showcasing excellent foot skills and strong soccer awareness. She did a great job receiving passes, controlling the ball under pressure, and making smart decisions about when to pass and when to advance the attack. Her play helped keep the team organized and moving forward.
The West Haven Federation of Teachers Union team played against Connex Credit Union. Mayenmen Ngoh had a spectacular game, showcasing his speed, skill, and accuracy throughout the game. His relentless effort paid off as he scored three goals, helping lead the team’s offensive attack. Mayenmen’s energy and talent were on full display from start to finish. Muyaka Ngoh was a key contributor all over the field, demonstrating excellent ball control, field awareness, and teamwork. His ability to support both the offense and defense kept the team moving forward, while his leadership helped motivate his teammates throughout the game. On defense, Jingme Dedungpa was a force to be reckoned with. Determined to protect his team’s side of the field, he intercepted multiple passes and consistently shut down opposing attacks. His strong defensive play and timely clearances helped keep the pressure off the team and played a major role in the victory.
The West Haven U10 girls gravel topped undefeated Cheshire, 5-3. Charlotte Murray blocked major shots in the net. Melody Feliciano, Vivian Andrade, Marwa El-filali, and Zain Heredia played aggressive defense and the quick midfielders keeping the ball down field. Goals were scored by Avalyn Wilder and Melody Feliciano.
