West Haven Girls Basketball continued its junior division schedule with the Panthers remaining as the league sole unbeaten team through the first five games.
The Chuck’s Garage Panthers upended the Gunning Law Firm Huskies, 14-8, behind six points from Jaecianna Mitchell. Jaearrah Mitchell added four points and Aleyia Lachance and Tirenka Keita also scored for the Panthers. The Huskies were led by the offense of Finley Gunning, Ella McDonnell and Taryn Walker.
The Panthers also downed the Emmett’s Auto Bruins, 15-12, as Hayden Holm, Bria Johnson and Fatoumata Keita accounted for the scoring for the Panthers. The Bruins were led by the combined 10 points from Jada Turner and Amare Bennett. Sarah Went and Samantha Boyd also each hit key free throws.
The Prospect Fish and Game Blue Devils notched their first win of the year as they upended the Bruins, 8-7. Isabella Sisson erupted for all eight points for the Blue Devils and used defense of Terrianna Rogers and Lia Petruzziello to hold off a late rally. The Bruins scoring came from Amare Bennett, Jada Turner and Samantha Boyd.
Sofia Costellano and Cristel Miguel accounted for all 14 points as the Oyster River Energy Cardinals also got their first win of the year over the Blue Devils by a count of 14-13. Isabella Vanbredrode has 12 points to pace the Blue Devils.
The TBNG Eagles used five points from Justice Butler and four from Aslhan Tuzcu, to down the Gunning Law Huskies, 15-11. Haleigh McCarthy, Sophia Empric and Katelyn Mondo all scored for the Huskies.
Brooklyn McCormick and Perez Rosario accounted for 10 points in the TBNG Eagles’ 20-9 win over the Oyster River Cardinals. The Cardinals were led by Parish Rutledge and Danavia Pittman.
