West Haven has a long history of producing amazing athletes. This rich tradition seems to be continuing in a 14-year-old resident by the name of Pearson Hill. The amazing thing about this young man is that he is getting national attention prior to even stepping a foot into high school.
Hill has recently received many accolades at well-known showcases and camps. A few weeks ago, he attended the FBU camp at Cheshire Academy in Cheshire. He was awarded with the Defensive MVP honor. Then he was presented with the Top Receiver award when he attended the NUC Showcase Camp at St. Peter’s Prep in New Jersey. Now to top all that Pearson has been invited to participate in the Pro Football Hall of Fame All-Star game this summer. The game, is by invitation only, and will be showcasing the athletic ability of our nation’s top rising 8th graders. The All-Star game is in Canton, Ohio at Tom Benson Stadium on Aug. 3.
Pearson is equally talented off the field. Pearson is an outstanding student, who was recently inducted into the Junior National Honors Society. His athletic ability does not stop at football either.
Pearson participates in other sports which include wrestling and rugby. Pearson has held numerous wrestling titles over the years. He is a three-time CT State Champion and a 2-time New England Champion.
This past rugby season, while in middle school, Pearson was one of the top scorers for the Aspetuck’s (Redding) High School Varsity Club Team, whicj is ranked 25th in the country.
Pearson Hill is a young scholar athlete to keep an eye on in the coming years. One thing Westies love is when one of their own makes it big!
