Nick’s Luncheonette played against the Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center Gold Ninjas to open play Saturday morning on Silent Sidelines weekend. Abdul Akondo and Eli Collins led the way for Nick’s Luncheonette, passing and scoring. Joey Ruiz and Kobe Skidmore also played well as they worked together to find the net.
The Elite Soccer Camps Red Rangers played a great game against Oyster River Energy, with the Rangers coming out on top, 8-2. The Rangers strung several passes together to set-up Luca DeCresenzo, Matteo D’Elia, Nathan D’Aurio, and Jax Guarino for goals. Ryan Abekah, Seth Empric, and Benjamin Trenchard showed off their footskills using several moves. Elias Padilla, Emmett Hemming, and Taylor Bell hustled up and down the field. Collin Gibbons and Jacob Rader passed the ball very well. For Oyster River Energy, Grayson McCarthy scored two nice goals.
The First Congregational Church of West Haven took on the Rock House School of Music, winning 7-2. Julie Bellamy had a great weekend as she scored for her team and Sarah Davey played well in the net and added a goal of her own. Dayanna Vasco played well on defense. For Rock House School of Music Zayne Paskiewicz showed improvement during the game with her skills and her position on defense. Sofia Bungiorni-Nucci helped her team to score using her footskills. Ashley Benavides also scored to help her team stay in the game.
#DAVILATRIBE played the Stars Ice Cream Sharks to a 4-4 draw. For #DAVILATRIBE, Marissa Prete scored and Hudnaur Sahin helped on defense pushing and sending the ball forward to her teammates. Naomi Shubin scored to help preserve the tie. For the Sharks, Haley Colon and Sarahi Cruz Cruz picked up two goals each and Jada Avila and Fourela Dembele played well in the field. Allorra Hidebrand played well in the goal.
The Sweet Relief Maroon Wolf’s played Porto Funeral Home on Saturday, with Porto Funeral Home coming out on top. Porto Funeral Home team played great defense and attacked when the time was right. The Wolf’s Alessio Bisceglia and Benedict Awuah scored in key moments of the game. While Lincoln Bertolini and Tobias Paskiewicz played well on defense. The Wolfs played with lots of energy and together as a team.
The Gunning Law Firm Yellow Jackets defeated Cappetta’s Italian Imports, 3-2, in a hard-fought match. The Yellow Jackets were outstanding on defense, led by Allie Power and Valentina Massa. Ariel Titus scored two goals, including the winning goal with two minutes left. For Cappetta’s Italian Imports Annabelle Fiorillo dominated in defense. Kai Ruotolo and Luciana Cappetta scored.
Milano & Wanat defeated P & B Express by a score of 6-2. The defense was led by Lonnie Bunch, Davonte King, and Ines Sahin. Goalie Jordan Walker helped power the team to victory.
The Sports Sanitizing of CT-Doritos played Vio’s Sports Plus, winning 7-3. Mohammed Lamkhantar led the way for the Doritos scoring a brace. Muhammadsaif Vahora played well overall in attack and on defense. Jonah Rogers also worked contributed with heart and hustle.
On Saturday, the R. Mark Pappas D.C. Blue Lightning girls team played a spirited game against Shoreline Wellness and came away with an 8-3 victory. Goaltending and defensive play were controlled by Taliah Boykin and Anne Charles, with Brookyn O’Mara and Phoebe Dinuzzo in goal making several stops. The offense was led by Ava Pellino, Allyson Hernandez-Arce and Stella Porto, all scoring goals. For Shoreline Wellness, Harper Golde started in goal making some big saves, and Vanessa Woolcock made her goalkeeping debut and played aggressively for the second half in net. Joselyn Davila stepped up to help other teams who were missing players and then played her heart out for her team shooting on net over and over. Klara Frost and Corrine Davila netted goals. Moriah Frost, age 5, served as a sub and had some great passes. It was a tough game against some great shooters.
In travel team action, the Top Hat Dance Academy West Haven U19 girls took a win from the Clinton by a forfeit. Then on Sunday, they played at Ansonia, and came up short, losing 3-0. Sophia Gigliotti played well in the first half in net and then contributed on the field in the second half. Meanwhile Grace Nowak and Cece Williams played well throughout the game contributing on defense and offense.
The UNH U10 girls fought hard against Shelton Friday night, with the game ending in a 3-3 tie. Chelsea Frost helped to defend the goal while Stella Porto, Gillian Wynus, and Luciana Cappetta scored for West Haven. The tea m was back in action Sunday, losing 7-2, despite controlling large portions of the game. The girls demonstrated great control with their passing skills and had great communication on the field. Olivia Petrie had some great saves in goal. Stella Porto’s persistence and speed resulted in the two goals for West Haven.
The WH Italian-American Civic Assn U9 Westies girls took on Southington in an early Sunday afternoon match. The Westies got to work early, putting a lot of pressure on the Southington defense, but could not produce a goal. Brooklynn O’mara and Phoebe Dinuzzo played great, showing outstanding toughness and passing. The Westies fell short, 2-1, with the game ending early due to a thunderstorm.
