Democratic Mayoral candidate Nancy Rossi announced her running mates at a fundraiser held at her headquarters on Thursday night. Rossi, a Certified Public Accountant, will challenge incumbent Mayor Edward O’Brien in a September 12 Democratic primary.
Rossi’s City Council candidates were announced as Nick Pascale (at-large), Joseph Harvey (at-large), Bridgette Hoskie (1st district), Ruth Torres (2nd district), Dan Chudoba (3rd district), Mitch Gallignano (4th district), Robbin Watt-Hamilton (5th district), Peter Massaro (6th district), Portia Bias (7th district), Chris Vargo (8th district), Patty Horvath (9th district), and Lori Nacca (10th district). The Board of Assessment Appeals candidates are Rich Standish and Renee Barros. The Board of Education candidates are Cebi Waterfield and Dwight Knowles, as Rossi interviews candidates for the third and final Board of Education slot.
Rossi had previously tapped her top of the ticket candidates; Michael Last for City Treasurer, Tom McCarthy for City Clerk and Dorothy Chambrelli for Tax Collector.
“We have assembled a team of very intelligent, hard-working and community minded individuals with the same goals and vision that begin with fiscal responsibility and a balanced budget,” Rossi said. “This team understands the dire fiscal condition of the city and is willing to make the personal sacrifices and put in the work necessary to turn West Haven around. We need to bring pride back to West Haven, and make the city an attractive and desirable destination for business. Showing fiscal discipline is a great start. I am looking forward to working together with our team on the many tough challenges we will face. We know it won’t be easy, but we will work hard and methodically to deal with each issue to make West Haven better for everyone.”
Her campaign manager, and City Treasurer candidate Michael Last said the team exhibits the type of professional experience needed.
“We have put together a very strong and diverse team with the necessary expertise and experience to handle the critical issues West Haven faces. We will finally have a skilled leader with mayoral candidate Nancy Rossi who is a Certified Public Accountant. We cannot continue on this reckless path or the West Haven we have all come to love will be no more” said Campaign Manager and City Treasurer candidate Michael Last.
