West Haven Rotarians will join their fellow members around the nation for the annual Day of Service, scheduled for April 9. This year, the city’s largest volunteer agency to help the needy, the West Haven Emergency Assistant Taskforce (WHEAT), along with the Purple Pantry and local food pantries, are the beneficiaries, according to local organizers.
“Rotarians are known for their tireless efforts to help those in need, but the Day of Service will be the single largest volunteer effort we’ve ever held in our region,” said Joanne Alfieri, Governor of District 7890, which oversees 57 clubs in northern Connecticut and western Massachusetts.
Rotary Club of West Haven Day of Service will be located on the Green, Saturday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Easter Bunny will be there for photos with youngsters.
The group is asking for: Non-Perishable Food Items (only), which may include: canned goods, tuna fish, cereal, pasta, peanut butter, soup, pasta, soups, etc. Perishable foods will not be accepted at this time. The Purple Pantry may also be provided donations from this drive.
