The Sandy Point Neighborhood Association (SPNA) will hold its 5th annual meeting on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. at the West Haven Public Library, 300 Elm St.
SPNA members and the public are invited to attend the meeting to learn about the group’s accomplishments over the past year and to help shape the vision for the future of the area.
In 2026, members conducted monthly neighborhood clean-ups, maintained a native garden at the entry of Savin Rock Community School, assisted in the weeding and watering of the gardens at the Sandy Point Bird Sanctuary, and hosted the group’s second annual “One Neighbor’s Trash is Another Neighbor’s Treasure” citywide yard sale. They also sponsored a city Little League team and the upcoming “Westie Pawlooza” dog event to benefit the West Haven Animal Shelter.
Members advocate for the neighborhood by attending bi-monthly City Council meetings, monthly Water Pollution Control Commission meetings, and zoning meetings that are relevant to the area. They also provide leadership and communicate with city departments relative to the needs of the neighborhood.
