The West Haven Junior Varsity football team (11-1) has advanced to the National Pop Warner Semi-final championship game with a 19-0 win over the Almaden Mustangs (San Jose, CA).
The Seahawks will now face the Ohio Village Wildcats out of the Mid-American region on Tuesday at 1:15. The winner will play in the national championship game on Friday December 8th. Game scores and live highlights are available on www.espn3.com
Seahawks quarterback R. J. Whitlow connected with Pearson Hill for a 40-yard touchdown. Hill ran for two additional scores in the win over Almaden. Jo-Jo Winder, Maxwell Warren and Christian Lewis excelled on defense helping the Seahawks record the shutout.
The championships are being played this week at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida. There are football teams from all eight regions competing on five levels.
