The Ray Tellier Midget Football League is celebrating its 56th season. The league’s West Haven Seahawk football teams will open the new season on Saturday, at home, at Veterans Memorial Park on Bull Hill Lane. League officials are smiling over the fact participation in the football and cheerleading programs increased on every level this year, resulting in more squads.
On the football side the two flag football teams (5 & 6 years old) will begin on Saturday morning at 8:00am with games against Danbury and Naugatuck.
The 8U team (7/8) will host New Haven at 9:00am. The Seahawks have two 10U football teams (9/10) and will host New Haven’s two 10U teams at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. The 11U team will host the Danbury Trojans at 3 (West Haven is the defending 10U New England Regional champions from last year). The game expected to be exciting. The day will conclude with the 13U (12/13) Seahawks taking on Brockton, MA at 5.
