It was a great final week in the West Haven Youth Soccer League fall season with several great games for parents and players to enjoy.
In the CD Girls division, the Soccer Rockers/Oyster River Energy had a tough loss against Connecticut Pest Elimination girls, 5-3. Keeper Emily Pruitt had several outstanding saves as she played her final game with the soccer rockers. Joyce Delgado scored her first goal, with an assist coming from Yamilette Romero. The defense line played strong and included Asia Ford and Sofia Lora, who were able to block multiple shots.
In the EG Girls division, the Cappetta’s Imports Red Fireballs completed an exciting fall season of soccer with an impressive victory over the Top Hat Dance Studio Maroon team.
Madden Evangeliste led the offense with outstanding assists from Katerina Olivegia and Sarahi Cruz-Cruz. Natalie Reed provided great defensive play with support from Madison Jacksics and Melissa Valìterra while Mariella Cappetta was outstanding in goal with many saves.
In the final weekend play in the FG Girls division play, the Cappetta’s Italian Imports Red Emojis played a tough game against the Milano & Wanat Green team, taking a 6-3 loss. Great play by the Red Emojis, led by Leila Lancaster and Giada Jimenez, who scored for the for the team, while Abby Forsyth, Jocelyn Kenny, and Luciana Cappetta were fierce in defensive play.
In the EB Boys Division, the Stars Ice Cream boys defeated the Baybrook Remodelers EB3 team, 4-0. Nicholas Westphal led the scoring with a hat trick while Victor Magana Preciado and Urijah Silva played an exceptionally skilled game on both sides of the ball.
In the Girls Travel Division, the Elite Soccer Camps U-12 girls travel team traveled to Meriden Saturday afternoon, and lost 1-0 in a hard fought battle. Ava Murphy did a stellar job in goal, while Camryn Flaherty, Isabelle Nagle and Cynthia Burns played well on defense.
Summer Krajcir, Olivia Trenchard, Ariana Izzo and Abigail Phelan worked hard in the midfield, and Brooke Throm and Brooke Flaherty created a few chances that challenged the Meriden keeper.
In another girls travel game, the State Farm Insurance U-11 girls travel Team Lightning, hosted Naugatuck early Saturday afternoon, winning, 5-0. Alexandria Nunes and Molly Gunning scored in the first half, Gunning’s goal coming from an Ashlynn Trenchard assist.
Trenchard picked up a second assist in the second half, feeding Jaylyn Powell. Chloe Whelan and Aylin Soto both played well, and Annabel Pasacreta had a strong game in midfield in the win for the Lightning.
